Driver’s training

August 17, 2010 No Comments

During weeks without races, I’ll tell you interesting things that are not seen on TV and will help you understand races and everything around them it. I hope that you find it interesting.

I would speak of our training. We use to train very hard, though many people can think that driving is not very hard. I will explain why. We drive close to 300 km / h so we need to be very strong in order to brake from 300 to 80 in less than 100 meters. The deceleration in such a short space is very strong and we can support 2g, that means that in a moment the neck has to withstand two times the weight of your head with the helmet, which is about 15 kg .

In addition, proper physical preparation is very important because you don’t have to think if you are tired. allowing you to keep your head cool and be fully concentrated in driving.

Therefore, I make a lot of training: five hours at the gym, two hours of boxing and two hours with the psychologist every week without races.

Another important thing is the psychological training, because you need to be always concentrate and paying attention to anything that happens in the race. You have to know that we are under pressure from all team members (15 people), plus the family, manager, friends … all persons who join us at the races and of course, the fans that comes to the races: about 80,000 people on average in the World Grand Prix Series and especially in England and Hungary with almost 130,000 persons. That’s too much if your brain is not ready for that.Fortunately, thanks to this psychological work, it is no longer something to care about, but to enjoy.

I hope you liked it. If you want to know more, you can enter into fan club on Facebook or follow me on Twitter and ask your questions there. I will try to answer to everyone!!
